Faculty of Language and Literature

Year of Establishment: It was Established in 2016

Faculty Location: Qamishlo city / Al Hilaliyah district

Faculty departments:

1.    Kurdish Literature department

It is one of The Faculty of Language and Literature of Rojava University departments. Established in 2016 in Qamishlo city.

Objective:

Language and literature are the identity of the human being and the conveyor of feelings and thoughts. In particular, like the Kurdish people, who have been excluded from their reality for hundreds of years under oppression, there is a vital need for language and literature education. That's why the department of Kurdish Language and Literature was established for this long-term purpose. Its  aim is to prepare individuals who are capable in Kurdish language and literature.

Teaching system:

The education system is based on the system of semesters. There are 8 semesters and are distributed over 4 years.

Areas in which graduates of the department can work:

Graduates of the department can work in all fields of literature and teaching in schools and institutions, according to their expertise. They can also work in the field of Media.

2.    Arabic literature department:

It is one of The Faculty of Language and Literature of Rojava University departments. Established in 2019 in Qamishlo city.

Objective:

- Teaching students through the methods and foundations of scientific research.

- Teaching arabic language teaching styles in schools to students

Teaching system:

The education system is based on the system of semesters. There are 8 semesters and are distributed over 4 years.

Areas in which graduates of the department can work:

- Teaching Arabic in schools/in general.

- Teachers at universities/in general.

 - Work in the field of public + private media.

3.    Translation department:

It is one of The Faculty of Language and Literature of Rojava University departments. Established in 2019 in Qamishlo city.

The High Institute of Translation is divided to two branches (English - Kurdish / English - Arabic)

Objective:

The objective of the department is to prepare translation experts in English, Arabic and Kurdish.

Teaching system:

The education system is based on the system of semesters. There are 6 semesters and are distributed over 3 years.

Areas in which graduates of the department can work:

Graduates of this department can work as translators at universities, research and translation centers.

4.    Department of Fine Arts:

It is one of The Faculty of Language and Literature of Rojava University departments. Established in 2018 in Qamishlo city.

Objective:

The purpose of the department is to prepare academic experts in sculptory and photography.

 Teaching system:

The education system is based on the system of semesters. There are 8 semesters and are distributed over 4 years. The lessons of the department are theoretical and practical.

Areas in which graduates of the department can work:

- Consulting

- Teaching in art institutes and schools.

- Cultural and art institutions
